GHANAFEST - SOUTH AFRICA 2016X

GHANAFEST SA is an annual Entertainment, Trade and Cultural festival, which is organized by the Ghana High Commission, in collaboration with the Ghanaian Community in South Africa. GHANAFEST SA 2016 is the 6th edition to be held in South Africa. It is an important event for the Ghanaian Community in South Africa, and seeks to showcase and educate South Africans and other Nationals resident in South Africa about Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, as well as business and investment opportunities.

In this connection, there will be varied display of Ghanaian drumming and dancing, as well as exhibits of Ghanaian textiles & clothing, cultural artifacts, cuisine & traditional drinks, herbal products & cosmetics, and other made-in-Ghana products.

Guided by the theme “Building Business Partnerships” the 6th edition aims at expanding opportunities for business development which is expected to cut across culture, trade and entertainment – the focal areas of GHANAFEST SA.

Accordingly, this year’s event will take place over three days, from Saturday,17th September to Monday 19th September, 2016, as per the under listed date & time, venue and activities, with the main event taking place on Saturday 17th September, 2016:

Cultural performances from Ghanaian Cultural Groups will showcase dances and cultural displays from regions of Ghana. A South African Group will also perform at the event to depict the unity and culture of the two countries. Traditional and delicious Ghanaian food and drinks will be available for sale.

There will be special featuring of a unique all-female live band from Ghana named ‘Les Femmes”, that will spice up the atmosphere with abundance of rhythmic sounds of music that will entertain and entice visitors to the dance floor.

There will also be for sale, smart/casual and formal kente clothing and Ghanaian fashion designs for both male and female, Ghanaian artifacts, cosmetics, herbal products and other made in Ghana products over the entire three-days event. Businesses are invited to take stands/stalls to exhibit their wares and promote their respective services.

GHANAFEST SA 2016 is an event for the whole family. Bring the children along to enjoy a fun day of face painting and bouncing castles, and to expose them to the diversity of African culture. Raffles will be drawn, as well as competitions in several outdoor and indoor traditional Ghanaian games, with opportunity to win interesting prizes.

The business exhibition will continue on Sunday, 18th September and Monday, 19th September, 2016. Entrepreneurs, businesses, traders, service providers etc., are encouraged to contact the High Commission to obtain exhibition stalls and participate accordingly with varied opportunities for business networking.
